• Legends banner on the whole collection if you wanted to know that
• Whether you're a moderate or hard-core Star Wars fan, you _need_ to read this. This is the seminal work by R.A.Salvatore and Michael Stackpole that spun the galaxy in a whole new direction, where the New Republic is pitted against the Yuuzhan Vong -- an enemy that cannot be seen through the Force, possessing biotechnology that goes above and beyond that of the Republic and the Remnant, capable of fighting of holding their own against the Jedi -- who, just to make things a bit worse, are being censored by a Senate blinded by political games. Some of the best SW reading.
• The books are seller are fine, I just found this series to be extremely boring.
• I just finished the entire Yuuzhong Vong series, and it was a great read from start to finish.
  Every iteration is well written, and I would recommend this to any fan of the Star Wars expanded universe.
  A word to the wise, however - This is far flung past return of the Jedi. Read the Grand Admiral Thrawn series first, and you'll be a lot less lost!
• I just finished the third one in this set and was riveted to them through the entire set. Great books!

• There are two components to be reviewed here. The first value of this particular item, the three set itself. It is a great value if you plan on buying all of the books at some point, or if you merely want to grab the first few and see how they hit you.
  
  The second component is the New Jedi Order factor. You'll find it divided fans quite solidly, some stoicly opposing Salvatore's introduction of a force resistant extra-galactic pain-relishing Yuzhan Vong. Also, the fact that no main character is safe from the Reaper in this series seems blasphemous. I disagree, and feel that a story without any risk to the characters has no excitement.
  
  Obviously, the second gripe people raise is towards how throughout this ..17 book series the force itself metamorphisized into something canon-only and Empire-timeline fanatics find a heresy. The living force is something that has to be dealt on a per-reader basis.
  
  However, regardless of where you stand on these issues, the books themselves are all very boldy written, always captivating, the side stories and characters introduced are all fantastic and multi-dimensional, and as a whole constantly refreshes why i love Star Wars.
  
  Finally, we can all admit we got tired of the "leftover imperial superweapon" or "capture the solo twins/kids in some nefarious scheme" plot devices that plagued the around the Darksaber times. If those were boring you to tears, then rejoice in knowing the New Jedi Order will give you nothing like what you might wearily expect.

• When Mikael Blomqvist arrives on remote Hedeby Island to do research for the biography of Swedish industrialist Henrik Vanger and his large family, he is looking for a place where he can avoid attention. Blomqvist, a financial journalist for Millenium magazine, is due to serve a three-month prison sentence soon for libeling a man he accused of criminal activity. For his own reasons, he did not challenge the charge and offered no defense, preferring to get the sentence over with in the face of enormous publicity. The temporary job he accepts on this remote island involves the search for Harriet Vanger, Henrik's niece who disappeared from the island when she was sixteen--thirty-seven years ago.
  
  Sometimes helping Blomqvist in his research is Lizbeth Salander, a young woman thought to have Asperger's syndrome, who is under the guardianship of the state. Salander has suffered enormous sexual and emotional abuse and has withdrawn to the point that she trusts no one. Marking events in her life through tattoos and body piercings, she lives as solitary a life as possible, connecting primarily through the internet where she has "met" several fellow computer hackers. Gradually, Salander begins to respond to Blomqvist's honesty and respect for her talents as she discovers important new information about the Vanger family.
  
  Though the novel starts rather slowly as the characters are introduced and the genealogy of the Vanger family is explored, author Stieg Larsson succeeds in creating a sense of Sweden's social culture and atmosphere as he sets up this "closed room" mystery and creates vibrant characters to carry the action. The reader cares about Blomqvist and Salander from the beginning, as both are vulnerable and have suffered unjustly, and as the novel develops, the author also creates sympathy for the elderly Henrik Vanger. Larsson was the editor of an anti-racist magazine, and his unforgettable depiction of some of the other Vanger relatives, who were ardent adherents of fascist and Nazi movements, carries the ring of authenticity.
  
  Entitled The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo when it was published in the US, the novel reveals the skeletons in the Vanger family closet and a host of repulsive crimes, including murder, rape, torture, and the wanton abuse of women over many years. The novel becomes an utterly compelling can't-put-it-downer, as the reader "travels" with Blomqvist and Salander, sharing their frustrations and their physical danger as they investigate this decades-old disappearance. Developed in minute detail, this rich novel is especially satisfying because it leaves no loose threads, connecting every detail to produce a blockbuster conclusion which satisfies in every way. n Mary Whipple

  The third novel, tentatively titled The Air Castle That Blew Up, has no US publication date yet.
• This book started its life with the Swedish title "Men who hate women" but was published in English as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - available from in July.
  
  The title Millenium is for a trilogy by Stieg Larsson, which was published in Sweden after he died of a massive heartattack in 2004 (according to Wikipedia.) The series is about one journalist/owner of a magazine called Millenium, and his experience solving mysteries with the Girl of the English title. As far as I can see, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the TV series Millenium.
  
  The second volume will be available in January, called the same as the Swedish, The Girl Who Played With Fire.
  The third novel in Swedish is "Luftslottet som sprängdes" ("The air castle that blew up"). I suppose the English title will be "the girl who blew up air castles"?
  
  I read the first 2 in the Danish translation and enjoyed them thoroughly. The girl of the title has Asperger's Syndrom to a relatively high degree, which makes her a very interesting person - highly disfunctional and highly intelligent, with a rather interesting history, which becomes clearer in the second book. I am looking forward to the third.
  
  As one reviewer wrote, it's a shame that he died. His books are very entertaining.
• The Millenium trilogy is one of the best thrillers I have read, full with brillant ideas and interesting characters. The first hunderd pages are a little bit difficult, but one the story really begins, it's hard to close the book and go to bed... Volume 2 and 3 of the trilogy are still better, as you learn to know more and more about the characters. Highly recommended.

• The title for my review is a quote from Van Vlymen that meant a lot to me. It's true and profound. I really enjoyed this book. The author seeks to develop a relationship with the reader and it shows. The writing is transparent and accessible. He is honest and sincere which makes him credible. The teaching comes through his experiences which I appreciate.
  
  I love the courage that the author makes apparent by showing restraint. What I mean is that he doesn't make an effort to justify or rationalize his experiences. It's just, here it is. Take it or leave it. That's courageous. The testimonies are inspiring and for someone like me who is just at a place where all I want is for my life to look like God's life it reveals that there is so much more to His life than I've known. Great job. Certainly a great read.
• It's been one of the most compelling and straight to the point books abording this subject I've read for a long time. I simply could not stop reading it and absorbing the teachings Mike has so clearly explained in it. I felt I had a caring father who would go the extra mile to explain each step along the way, so I could benefit from his experience.
  
  If you are as hungry for having your eyes opened as I am, I encourage you to start with this book. It will open up your eyes for simple things from the spiritual world that are around us all along and we've never thought of them before.
  
  I would love to attend a conference where Mike is the speaker, so I could personally thank him for sharing his God given talent to relay the truths he presents in this book.

• Angelic Visitations is author Michael van Vlymen`s wonderful and amazing experiences with Angels in the spirit realm and his trips into the spirit world and his supernatural encounters with Angels who manifest themselves in his life and in his home. Michael Van Vlymen says his house is a habitation for angels (which is better than a habitation for demons or a haunting) and in the early days of his hunger for spiritual things he learned that through focus and desire you can enter into the spirit realm and that you can fly in the spirit realm and that he loves to fly ! He also says that he saw an angel that looked like actor Mel Gibson and an angel that looked like actor Gary Busey. Very fascinating and exciting book to read. There is also a story about a man who had lived a very wicked life for most of his life chasing after lusts of the flesh and worldly pursuits openly and without shame or remorse, but toward the end of his life he began to act differently and he made it to heaven, because some how God brought this man to repentance. Michael van Vlymen learned that God is more merciful than we can imagine and that virtually anyone can be saved !

• Wow, wow and wow!!! I've been looking for a book like this for a while. Some of the things I love about it are the realness, the portrayal of good and bad and the many varying degrees of experiences with God that Michael shares. I have never read one of Michael's books before but I will definitely be on the look out now! I loved how he shared both powerful life-changing visitations, mixed in with testimonies of simply waking up to an open eye vision of a shield next to his bed that then disappears but God reveals to Him the significance of that few second experience and it was impactful enough for him to share.
  
  Was also great to hear about the process, out of body experiences and some of the wisdom shared on how these things happen. Truly a great book for anyone who wants practical testimonies and insight on how to have greater experiences with God!
• I received this as a free book and was excited but skeptical. I read the book straight through and just couldn't put it down. I have longed for a closer walk with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and this book points to a way to achieve it. I really enjoyed how Mr Van Vlymen explained in detail his and his families experiences of walking in the spirit world. He has also provided many resources to get you started on that path. The book gives you a thirst to continue searching.
• A sequel of his first book "How To See In the Spirit" ; Michael Van Vlymen recounts his supernaturql encounters with angels, the Kingdom of God and even the kingdom of darkness. He encourages the Spirit reader to pursue the Lord as he has. He stresses that he is not anyone special and that anyone who earnestly seeks the Lord will find Him. Michael shares not only his good experiences but also his embarrassing ones so we the reader wouldn't have to experience the same mistakes he had in the beginning of his spiritual journey. He gives examples on how to engage God's angels and activate them in your life. An amazing, anointed book!

• To date I've read everything Robert Greene has in print and, much to my surprise, this turned out to be the most useful volume of all. Greene's other books were immensely helpful for clearing my head of cobwebs since, along with everyone else, I'm forced to negotiate our brave new world of cutthroat tactics and social Darwinists, while trying to keep a roof over my head. Without going into detail, let me simply say The 33 Strategies of War taught me exactly what I needed to know in order to adequately discourage the bullying I have had to endure at work for the past three years. Until I can find another job -- not all wars are winnable -- I can now keep this workplace vampire's demeaning behaviors in check. I recommend all of Greene's books, but this one may well be the best investment of the lot.
• Great examples and stories, but as always Greene has a rather Machiavellian view of life which becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy--if we view life as war it more often will be. But on the other side, we need to realize that some people will screw us over, and a dose of that truth is needed for survival as well. My biggest revelation of the book was that war is less about war than the psychology and drama going on behind the scenes, whether it be tides literally affecting the course of a war or personal affairs changing the course of history.
• There are no wars in most parts of the world. Condemning war as barbaric deeds is politically correct and very HYPOCRITICAL. The non-physical war in peaceful places is even more aggressive and nasty in fact. This book is truly enlightening in explaining the truth of it. But most importantly. This book is amazingly PRACTICAL and ACTIONABLE. I can't praise more about this book. 48 laws of power open your eyes for truth of human dynamics, this book comes far from understanding the humanity into the manual of getting what you want by humanity. Thank you, Robert Greene. I still think not only Robert Greene but this book are underestimated in the world. Although Greene is famous in the States, but it's truly not enough.
• This is probably the best book I've read - the writing is very engaging and they are explained in such an interesting and insightful way. Clearly a lot of research has gone into this, particularly the historic stories about war/combat and politics. The examples from history are an excellent way to illustrate specific points. I regularly keep this book for reference, and I'm sure I'll continue referring to it in the future. It uses the topic of war to explain and describe different strategic tools and methods. I've read 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene, so this is my 2nd book I've read by him - and it exceeded expectations.
• I enjoyed this book. Its not without faults, and the author gets a little whimsy/meta when describing some of the concepts it entails. However this book gave me an interest in history i never knew i had. Overall i am exceedingly happy i read this.
• Robert Greene continues to blow me away! After reading “The 48 Laws of Power” I was hooked. The writing style and format (for me) is my favorite “extra bonus” in his books. Great content, examples, and a knack for explaining fairly complicated ideas in a way that “clicks.”

• This is the best of his books. I have given over 20 copies of this book to young officers, enlisted men, young business people...even both of my children. Well written and the most impressive thing is how he uses the same things we have always read from these scions of leadership but he translates this into understandable...and better yet...actionable ideas. If you want to be a leader...of any kind...at any age...buy this book.
• Great social strategy book to dealing with difficult people.

It offers a terrific combination of pictures, maps, facts and commentary, more than enough to allow the visitor to find not only the major tourist attractions but also some of the unique places and events off the beaten path that may be even more worthwhile as destinations.
  
  This Eyewitness Guide includes a nice history of Scotland, up to and including the most recent debate over devolution, as well as practical information on travel, customs, money, safety, and climate. There are some good tips on what to eat and what to get as uniquely Scottish souvenirs. The cut-away sketches and diagrams of castles and other historical sites will increase the visitor's appreciation of some wonderfully interesting venues, such as the castles at Edinburgh and Sterling. The guide even manages to work in a few tips on where to hike. This reviewer and his wife have found previous editions of this guide, supplemented by local maps and the websites listed in the guide, to be entirely adequate to plan and enjoy weeks in the beautiful Scottish Highlands. "DK Eyewitness Travel Guide Scotland" is very highly recommended.

• DK guides never disappoints me - thorough coverage, exceptional photographs, lively descriptions. My only criticism is that the print is a tad too tiny.
• These travel books are the best. Makes it easy to plan what to see and where to go without overwhelming you with extraneous information. We use them wherever we travel to.
• Well edited and straightforward. Gives you the information that you need. Had several guidebooks to compare and this was the one I kept coming back to. I have a new found respect for this series.

• You'll want to keep this book handy if you are a painter or just wondering if you have what it takes to take up painting. Dustan shares her approach to creating lively, expressive pictures in watercolors and acrylics. There are step by step instructions and, more importantly for me, she expresses her engagement with the joy and discovery in making a painting. The paintings are beautiful. I look through this book on darkish days just to get a reminder of lighter days. And sometimes I pick it up to get some inspiration for my next painting.
• Not only is she an accomplished artist, her work is stunning and speaks to me, but the way she writes pulled me in and I enjoyed reading her process as if I was there next to her. Very informative and inspirational! Highly recommended!!
  (I read the version but will order the book, as I often do with books I really enjoy.)
• This is more a "how I do it" book than a "how to do it" book. I got some good ideas, but it wasn't what I was really looking for.

• The book is beautifully written and very unique in providing the reader with insight into the artist's creative thought process. It is chock-full of tips and techniques and workshop -like instruction which can be followed step-by-step to produce a number of original paintings.
• Loved this book and glad I got this one physically instead of on kindle. Its a great resource book to have in your art studio.
