I was hoping to get some good maps, but the maps were no better than those on the web. In fact the few maps that there were in the book were small and unreadable. There was also no mention of the electric power systems. This book was not the comprehensive volume that I thought it might be.
Interesting images sprinkled with historical facts. Pretty much in chronological order from CNW & other railroads to Metra. Keep in mind the book was published a couple of years ago, but that does not effect the value of the material. A great read!
Great book detailing Chicago and northern Indiana passenger rail services. If you have some or little knowledge of the area this is a great read with lots of pictures. If you are expert on the subject you will find it lacking but still with great pictures.
